The number for Public Enquiries, 01527 504448 gives you a recorded message with an 0870 number.

HOWEVER...... professional enquiries,  01527 504450, press option 4 were very helpful.

They directed me to CLS for assistance. They gave me an 0845 number. When I asked for the geo number they happily gave it to me.

Don't put them on the hall of shame just yet, lol  ;)

The alternative number you refer to was listed for 0870 606 6575, which has the same message, thus it is still the alternative number. I believe that this is for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), which has some connection with The Law Society.

The Law Society states on its website (bolding as copied):

The numbers 0870 606 6575 and 01527 504448 answer with a recording redirecting to the main number, 0870 606 2555 whose alternative is 01527 504450. This latter number is also given on the SRA contact page for "International" enquiries.
