Hi and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM. Perhaps you can give some basic information such as the 08 number used. There is an unverified entry in the database for Southend County Court: HM Courts Service (HMCS) 0844 892 4000 01702 601991 Southend County Court Fax: 01702 603090 Try that and let us know whether it works or not, and if not, why not. :) |

Thanks; I've removed this entry. A search of the HM Courts Service's website for the 0844 telephone number reveals that it is now the main number for a number of County Courts in the south east area of England:
A centralised helpdesk exists for Bedford, Hitchin, St Albans and other nearby County Courts, also on a similar 0844 number. uk26 says that calls are put through to Norwich and the pages I have found for the courts on this 0844 892 4000 number give an e-mail address which contains "norwich". So all signs point to it being answered in Norwich, probably at the County Court there. Norwich is a combined court with crown and county courts on one site. The Crown Court general switchboard number is 01603 728200 with direct contacts in the 01603 7282xx range. I have run some internet searches and have not found any clues as to what the direct numbers may be at Southend County Court; unless they are around the old phone or fax numbers; 601991 and 603090. :-/ |
Title: Chelmsford County Court Post by John Buchanan on Aug 8th, 2012 at 4:14pm
Hi
I find it despicable that such a government body as a county court should use an 0844 number. The number is 08448924000 and although the alternative in your unverified database i.e 01245295394 was answered by a person, she was unable to deal with my enquiry, asked me to call back on 08448924000 Other web sites list (01245) 264670 as a contact number for Chelmsford County Court, but this connects to a recorded message advising that the number has been changed to 08448924000 I did call 08448924000 and found that the number was engaged most of the time, but when I eventually got an answer it was the usual "your call is important to us, please wait while we try to connect you!" A person came on the line after 7 minutes of that. Entire call duration was 7m52s, and I am charged 54p for effectively 52 seconds conversation. Is there any government policy on use of 0844 numbers by county courtts, as there is regarding NHS GPs? John |

I visited Chelmsford CC today and asked the receptionist for a geographical number to call them on. I was told to use the 0844 number which is charged a a local rate! I suppose it might be cheaper than driving the 20 mile round trip and paying £1 for the car park, but I still don't like it.

John, you can reliably inform her she's wrong..
why.. because Local Rate no longer exists.. It's charged at a set rate depending on your telephone provider. They set the cost they charge you at. Not the County Court. |

I clicked on the Old Thread Link posted by bigjohn on 8th Aug and in a post by joli dated 22 Mar 2010 came across the link below
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/complaints/directors_region/directors_southeast.htm Although the Thread and Post is of that old Date the Link above appears to be an updated Emergency News Page On that HM Courts& Tribunals Service Page is says because of Power Cut in Newcastle to phone North Tyneside Mag. Court on 0191 2960099 Could Dave please test this out - and maybe Archive this Link as a useful Tool if I am correct in thinking that this may be a Back Door for Geo. Numbers. Other Geo Numbers may be posted at a later date. |
