Navigon.  Their satnav download instructions are incomprehensible and their UK help line at 10p per minute is 0871 2880154.  Can anyone help, please?

They have not provided any details but yet in the first post you said that you have downloaded instructions. How do you download something from the internet without an address?  :-? :-? ::)

Or if you have it, then that is the sort of information sherbert was referring to!

You could contact them here: http://www.navigon.com/portal/int/kundenservice/faq.html?content_identifier=askQuestion&id=2159&page=1&faqTopic=kontakt

or ring 0049-221 2888 999 using a cheap dial through provider, eg http://www.niftylist.co.uk/calls/to/germany/landline/ for 0.5p per minute

Many thanks for the positive feedback, Junior.  This is the site from which I started several days ago.  The problem is that the people on the other end have a rather limied command of English which I have spent a lot of time deciphering!  Dave: the website is navigon.com and the people I have tried to get help from are on support.uk@navigon.com!  They write from Navigon AG, Berliner Platz 11, 97080 Wuerzburg.

The UK number 0871 288 0154 and Germany number +49 221 2888 999 answer with the same English recording, so the latter is definately the alternative to the former. This is a Cologne number and not a Würzburg one.

As it's a German company, I think there's little we can do to help. After all, you have called the English speaking line they operate and not the German one.

A look-up of navigon in wurzburg on the German phone directory returns five results, four of which are 01805 numbers, a German premium prefix.  :-X

However, there's one Würzburg local geographic phone number 0931 35 73-100. Maybe they speak German by default, although I've just tried it and the recording starts off in German, and then speaks in English. Also, judging by the prefix, the support line is based in Cologne, so they may not be able to help you here anyway.

Thank you, Dave.  I am most impressed.  As I said, the standard of English I have received by email is not inspiring and a phone call might produce much the same reaction!  I think I will have to grin and bear the 10p per minute whihch, given that the problem stems from Navigon, goes very much against the grain.  My repeated thanks.  Over and out.

There is no need to call the 0871 number and pay 10 pence per minute. As I said, the German number, +49 221 2888 999, goes through to the same place and you can call it using a low cost call provider such as 1899 (4p connection plus 1 pence per minute).  ;)

More suggestions on dialling this number cheaply on MoneySavingExpert.com International Call Checker.
