Title: Churchill car insurance liability recovery dept Post by onesexylady on Aug 9th, 2010 at 1:30pm
Daughter is persuing a claim with her insurance after someone bumped into the back of her. She rang churchill on thier freephone number 0800 200350 and went through the option to existing claims but they have told her she has to speak to liabilty recovery dept which is 0845 6042212, I've looked for an alternative but cant find any. There are long waiting times on that 0845 number and it looks like shes going to have to make a lot of calls to them over the next few months so I would be grateful if anyone knows an alternative number please?

Based on the information provided in the OP, which is very sketchy, all I can suggest is that you attempt to contact them via one of the main switchboards. Churchill is an RBS brand and its main switchboard is 0131 556 8555. You may be better ringing 0113 390 4000 which is the main switchboard for UK Insurance Partnerships as was and seeing if you can get put through or find out more information from there.
It may be that the Liability Recovery department for Churchill is a central RBS one that does likewise for other RBS brands. Solicitors spring to mind with the term "liability recovery". Maybe it is outsourced to a firm of solicitors or organisation that specialises in this sort of thing. Where was the 0845 6042212 number given to you? Is it printed somewhere? What is the address given for this Liability Recovery department? Do they have a fax number? You say that your daughter rang the 0800 200350 number for claims. Is this the number published by Churchill for this purpose or is there an 0845 number for this purpose and if so, what is it? |

Thankyou
0845 604 2102 is the other number for 0800 200350 for churchill car and house claims from the alternative number list on this website. When she rings 0800 200350 she does get through on option 3 for existing claims but the recovery dept is the section that deals liability claims and getting the money from the other party, 0800 200350 can put you through to the recovery dept but most of the time they just give you the 0845 number and tell you to ring direct |

I have just called the 0845 6042212 number and the recorded message is voiced by the same lady as voices the Aviva IVRs, although she doesn't identify which company it is.
The message is "Thank you for calling the Claims Department. Unfortunately our office is now closed. Please call back during our opening hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday." The 0845 6042102 number is voiced by another female. |

I have called the 0800 again this morning and asked if they could put me through to the liability recovery section and the girl said it was impossible, she couldnt yet others on the same number put me through so I know it can be done but she was adamant even though I told her that others put me through she just quoted the 0845 number, she was very rude
The recovery dept closes at 5pm but the existing claims stays open till 8pm I don't know if that makes any difference |

But you have no idea how you were put through previously. Judging by the response, I suspect that they put you through to the 0845 number as opposed to internally, i.e. to another extension. Obviously this meant that a charge was incurred for connecting the call to the 0845 number, and indeed for the duration you continued to be on the phone to the recovery liability department. So where does that leave us on finding an alternative? No further forward by the looks of it. The address of the said department on the 0845 number would be a start. |

Sorry if it comes across as confusing, they just transferrred me thats all I know. I don't understand how it works to find the alternative numbers
I have looked again in the numbers list on this site and found in the unverified section Churchill 0845 603 3590 0800 0328560 € Car and Van Insurance Claims I have just called this number and it seems to be exactly the same as the freephone 0800 200350. I asked to be put through to liability recovery again and they said no, I asked this time why I could be transferred yesterday but not today and the lady said that they had been told not to transfer anyone now because of call volumes to that department, she gave me the 0845 number again I have looked for an address but the only one I can find so far is on the churchill site saying if you want to contact us by post use this address but it doesnt mean it will be the same adress as the number Churchill Insurance Company Ltd, Churchill Court, Westmoreland Road, Bromley BR1 1DP |
