Title: You'll laugh, I know but can you help?
Post by CRW1303 on Oct 6th, 2010 at 4:53pm
I'm currently in Spain using an internet phone that I can use to ring any numbers in Europe free EXCEPT for the numbers I'd call free if in the UK such as Molton Brown 0808 178 1188

What I wondered was is there a way I can call these freephone numbers from my phone here so I'm not charged, I'd require a geographical but CHARGEABLE number I THINK I'm trying to say.  [smiley=dankk2.gif]

There are a number of dial-through services that allow UK freephone numbers to be dialled and they have 01/02/03 numbers. The primary objective is to allow people to be billed the same as a geographic call on mobile phones.

However, I would have thought you could use the same service from abroad. Try 020 0222 0900.

Without bothering you kind souls how do I find these as, when we're here, we have freephone numbers we might need to call. I'm thinking of Nationwide credit card services, for one, (when we've specifically informed them we are in Spain & likely to be using our card & they've even taken our mobile number to check if they're concerned someone's made a fraudulant purchase but then they don't call us leaving us to call THEM!  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]) The Molton Brown number was just an example.

'There are a number of dial-through services that allow UK freephone numbers to be dialled and they have 01/02/03 numbers.'

I was under the impression my husband ONLY had a freephone number to ring Nationwide card services &, after posting my previous message, I saw your database had geographical options (for N/wide card services) THEN my husband informed me he DOES have a geographical number he can ring AS WELL AS the freephone number.

I do apologise  :-[but I was trying to find various numbers I might need urgently from Spain which wouldn't cost me & save them & I didn't ask my husband about alternatives as I believed we ONLY had freephone numbers.

'There are a number of dial-through services that allow UK freephone numbers to be dialled and they have 01/02/03 numbers.'

I posted the number of such a service in my first reply to you, which in international format is +44 20 0222 0900. Dial that number and when it answers, input the UK freephone (0800/0808/0500) number (in national format, i.e. 0800123456).

I understand what you are saying now, thanks for explaining, Dave. I've noted it & will keep it by the phone as well as in my diary.

MANY  [smiley=dankk2.gif] FOR YOUR HELP.

Apologies for not getting back to you but I wasn't expecting further contact &, although your previous messages had come into my inbox without a problem, for some reason this last one was put into my spam & went unnoticed till just now. Thank you for so much help, it's been very much appreciated.
