Title: Hampshire County Council
Post by mking90031 on Dec 30th, 2010 at 2:30pm
Please can someone supply me with the non-0845 number for:

Basingstoke Discovery Centre
19/20 Westminster House
Festival Place
Basingstoke, RG21 7LS

I would like to be able to call the library from my mobile and it not cost the earth when I want to renew a book that I borrowed or ask a question.

Thanks,

Mark King MCP

Hello and Welcome to SayNoTo0870.com

May I suggest trying 01329 225398 - The main contact number provided by Hants Council

I would advise them you are UNABLE to call 0845 numbers as they are blocked by your Mobile provider as they are not included in your minutes, and ask them to transfer you internally or provide an 01 number.

Should you obtain a direct number, please advise us here what is it.

:)

I have broadened this to Hampshire County Council.

The published number is 0845 603 5631, which is the number for all libraries.

I noticed that the entry in the database for general enquiries at the Council is 0845 603 5638 and that its alternative is 01329 225398. Seeing that the last digit of these numbers matches, I wondered whether this is a coincidence or clue to a pattern that had yet to be discovered. I duly replaced the last digit with a 1 (the same as the last digit of the 0845 number for Libraries) and what do you know, but it matches the 0845 number!

What's more, most of the other 0845 numbers operated by the Council also match in this way and I have listed those as well.

I also found 0800 028 0888 which matches the General enquiries 0845 number (and its 01329 alternative). I have listed this as being a suitable freephone alternative for all types of enquiry (and thus all the 0845 numbers).
