Title: Inverurie Medical Practice
Post by qmayberry on Jan 24th, 2011 at 2:44pm
Are you able to find an alternative number to 0845 337 9911.  It is for our GP service who over night changed to an 0845 number without telling anyone!

Inverurie Medical Practice
1 Constitution Street,
Inverurie,
Aberdeenshire. AB51 4SU
Tel: 0845 337 9911
Fax: 01467 627770

The old number 01467 621345 just now gives a recorded message to the new 0845 number. It is most annoying to have tyo call that in order to make an appointment.

Their website is  http://www.inveruriemedicalpractice.scot.nhs.uk/

I have tried searching the web for an alternative but have found nothing yet.

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

I've split this off from the Doctors Surgeries thread. Click here to receive e-mails to alert you to when responses are posted.

The Practice Team page of the website lists staff members and gives the number for the Nursing Team Secretary as (01467) 627757. When Google last looked at this page on 4 January the number was 621265. This number now has a network redirection message to the 0845 number, just as 621345 does.

So we have a fax number and direct staff number which begin 6277xx.... We know that the 627757 is a new number and therefore probably part of the new phone system. Could this be a clue to the range they use?  :-?

If the team list is anything to go by (and all staff members have direct numbers) then there's going to be quite a few. Numbers are usually allocated in blocks of 10 (ending 0 to 9, e.g. 01234 555550 through to 9) and reception/switchboard are often the first in the range of numbers they have.

I picked 01467 627700 and got through to the practice manager! I suggest that numbers from 627700 to at least 779 (if not perhaps 799) are for this practice.

Let me know if you find a number for reception or a more appropriate number to list and I will add it.  :)

Surely if they have just done this "overnight" then they are going against the new contract?

This surgery is in Scotland. I *believe* that the new contract is only for England.

Thanks Dave, I'll try different numbers and post the answers in due course. Thanks for your hard work :)

Not got very far with this, I just seem to be getting the individual doctors/nurses/admin staff and there are a lot of them!

The reception have told me verbally that all the GP's are going to a central 0845 number. I explained that this now costs me to call them from either a mobile or landline as I am not with BT and 0845 numbers are not free. They said there is no other direct dial number for them. Are they just being economical with the truth or will there definitely be a direct line to the reception?

I think it's quite safe to say that there will be a direct 01 number for reception simply because the way the system works is probably that the 0845 number points to it.

Do I take it that the practice manager wasn't forthcoming with reception's direct number? (Always make a note of what you tried and possibly what it was).

If you started at 700 and worked upwards, try 799 and downwards (again, noting what you find). It may be that numbers for staff extensions are at the beginning of the block (we know that the practice manager has 700). You could also try memorable combinations in the hope one is reception, e.g. 777, 789.

I thought the new contracts forbids these numbers?
