What are these "benefits" in connection with? Is it banking for people who are in receipt of some sort of state benefit?

Are you refering to the Co-Op Bank Privilege Account benefits?

"benefits" refers to the package of items that the Coop Bank offers to its current account customers, as correctly identified by CJT-80. The only numbers I can see on his attached link are the 0800 numbers that are used to apply for the account.

It appears to me that the clue is at the top of the page CJT-80 provided a link to!!

The reply provided by CJT-80 referred to the benefits offered when using the basic bank account (Privilege) and the three benefits available (Safeguard/Traveller/Gadget) are indeed managed by Lifestyle Services Group. However, there is a Privilege Premier account that offers the above plus other benefits, including Motor Breakdown Cover. Currently, this cover is operated by AXA and is shortly due to change to the RAC. Before you say it, there is no point looking for AXA/RAC non-premium numbers, because contact with these organisations must be via the Coop Bank on  0844 249 9981, hence my request for an alternative number!

It's a set of booklets with Privilege and Privilege Premier on them?

Having checked the "current" policy docs - http://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/servlet/Satellite/1193206368452%2cCFSweb/Page/Bank-CurrentAccounts?WT.mc_id=ask_home3%0A - the contact number given for MOST events is : 0845 602 5783 who's alternative given is the one Dave mentioned.

I would therefore recommend trying that for now,

and I will get my Mum (who Bank's with Co-Op) to see if she can find out more.
