Title: NoWcard Lancashire
Post by SleepyJohn on Oct 15th, 2011 at 8:38pm
Earlier this week, as an alternative to 0845 058 1096 (NoWcard Lancashire bus passes) I found this Preston number 01772 530100 and I tried to enter it on http://www.saynoto0870.com/add.php as a new number.    However after several attempts on different days,  I consistently met with failure because I couldn't see any verification string on that page.   So that's why I''ve registered here as a newbie to ask what's wrong and why is the verification string field showing nothing but a blank pale blue background?

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

Thanks for posting about this; I've added an entry to the database for it.

I will draw the issue you've experienced to the attention of the site administrator.

If you have any further updates or additions to or removals from the database, please post in the forum in the Requests section and I or one of my colleagues will sort it. That way the entries don't end up languishing as unverifieds.

Hi SleepyJohn,

I have sent you a PM with regards to the trouble you had adding a number.

Hello bbb_uk,
I've seen yourt PM,  thanks,  but unfortunately can't reply to it directly at  present because I haven't reached your quota of 5 to qualify to send a PM back.     However I can tell you I'm currently using Linux Ubuntu 11.04 and browser SeaMonkey 2.4.1     That's not confidential info from my point of view,  so if you'd like to discuss it somewhere on the open forum,  I'll be happy to do that

Hi SleepyJohn,

Downloaded SeaMonkey for Windows and was able to re-create the problem you experienced if I disabled ALL cookies.

Do you block all cookies?

If you do, then this is the reason why the verification string doesn't appear.

You could allow cookies for the originating website only and under 'cookie retention policy', select the option, 'for current session only'

This would mean that for websites you actually visit a cookie would be left (if needed) but it would be deleted when session ends.

If you have cookies enabled then let me know and I will try and see what else it could be.

Using IE, I too am unable to see verification letters if I block ALL cookies.  However, my personal setup is very similar to that I mentioned above.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks

Perhaps if it is proven that cookies being disabled is the cause of this problem and it can't be made to work without them, then there should be a suitable message displayed.
