Title: HMRC Debt Management Dept Post by kasg on Nov 7th, 2011 at 9:41am
There are two entries in the unverified numbers database giving 01206 737455 as an alternative for 0845 302 0140. This number is unobtainable so these entries can be deleted.
Someone submitted an FOI request for the number here: http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/landline_number_for_hmrcs_debt_m?unfold=1 It was refused because the applicant did not give a full name. Another attempt here also failed: http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/direct_line_telephone_number_req#incoming-172122 I had to talk to them so reluctantly used the 0845 number. |

Thanks for reporting this. I've deleted those two entries. :) |

01206 737 455
This number took an age to answer. Hang in there as it was answered in the end. I found this post after making the call as it was in the SERP. However a number search for 08453020140 Still gives a result with Quote:
I can confirm it works. |

Well that's interesting because, as I reported last November, the number was unobtainable then. I just tried it and it's still unobtainable. So how come it worked for Fawkes?

Perhaps they switch it off in some way?
It's certainly giving the N/U tone now. |

Perhaps it is switched off at weekends and out of operational hours. I only say this as Fawkes posted on a Friday that the number worked, were as kasg and Heinz have posted on a weekend. |

All I know is that I originally tried it during operational hours.

How can it be unobtainable during its operational hours? It is probably set to unobtainable when this office or the team (all members of the hunt group) are unavailable. It may be that this is just one of a number of numbers into this office or indeed for this type of enquiry. Maybe there are other offices that deal with this and they don't all operate all the time during operational hours of the helpline. No information as to whether this is the case or not has been made available on this thread. I have added a note to the entry in the database: "May be unobtainable at times, but it does work." |

Well obviously I meant the advertised operational hours of the number for which it was given as an alternative. Anyway, if I ever have cause to use it again (hopefully I won't!) I'll give it a try. |
