Is there an alternative number for London Ambassador (08448889187) ps this is not the theatre Ambassador but for the Olympics Ambassador

Hello and welcome to SayNoTo0870.com.

It would be helpful for background information to be provided, particularly where is is easy to find. The organisation's website is one such example, but further examples are set out in the guide for posting for help.

I should point out that up until I read your posting I had never heard of this organisation.

The website is www.londonambassadors.org.uk

There is no address given on the contact page.

The website talks of Freedom of Information requests which suggests that it is a public body.

It says that requests should be made to:

The Public Liaison Unit
Greater London Authority
The Queen's Walk
London SE1 2AA
Telephone: 020 7983 4100
Minicom: 020 7983 4458

Fax: 020 7983 4057
Email: mayor@london.gov.uk

There are two possibilities that spring to mind here:

1. The helpline goes through to the office of the body that is running it, seemingly the GLA.
2. The helpline has been outsourced to a third party.

If it is 1, then I would suggest that the main number for the GLA is the place to start.

However, I went to Google and put in london ambassadors helpline and right after links to its own website, I found this one on the GLA's website:

Quote:
DD589 London Ambassador Helpline Facility
Published Date:
9 September, 2011
Reference No:
DD589
Decision by:
Neale Coleman, Director London 2012
Executive Summary:

The GLA and LDA are leading on the City’s London Ambassador Programme. The Ambassadors programme will recruit, train and deploy 8000 volunteers across 35+ sites (‘pods’) across London during the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games.

This DD seeks retrospective approval of the award of a contract with Carrier Direct Limited trading as Carrier Direct Marketing (Carrier Direct Marketing) to provide the London Ambassadors with a Helpline function for the period April 2011 to October 2012.

The funds will be spent from the London Ambassadors budget, which sits within the 2012 City Ops team. There is an allocated budget within this to cover the costs.

So this says that it is number 2 and that the company in question is Carrier Direct Marketing.

Its contact page says:

Westacott Road
Barnstaple
Devon
EX32 8AW

TELEPHONE: 01271 336000

FAX: 01271 336008

Presumably something to do with the taxpayers' supposed £9.3bn expenditure.

Thanks Dave for the info

Please don't stop there!

Let us know what you try and how you get on with each as this will help others with the same query. If you find a suitable alternative, then I will put it in the database.
