I am trying to find an alternative number for a company called First Utility. Their number is 08452155000.

The only numbers i have are 01926328810, however they have since moved offices, got another number 01926659775 which is not answered.

I have also rang through on 08000115168, these answer the phone but only deal with complaints.

The main number 0845 2155000, they just don't answer as they always appear to be busy and am on hold constantly for 30 minutes.

Is there a switchboard number for this company?

There`s a post here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1138441&page=6 which reads "Or call them instead on 01926 328810 if you are calling them out of contract minutes on a mobile phone or from a BT Payphone or from overseas or on a landline package with a company (eg Sky Talk) that does not include 0845 and 0870 calls in your inclusive anytime call plan."
Might be worth a try.

I can confirm that the alternative number to  0845 215 5000 is
01926 320 700 .

They publish both on their website.

Many thanks bigjohn. I've listed these numbers along with 0800 011 5167 which goes through to the same recording/IVR as on the 01926 number (the 0845 advising of the alternative at the beginning whereas 01926/0800 don't).

0800 011 5168 is the "Customer Case Resolution team", otherwise known as Complaints, as provided on the website.

My main advice though to anyone who is a customer of First Utility and who has issues is to leave them as soon as they can.

I nearly once joined them because they claimed to be offering smart metering that would let me get readings for my gas and electricity meters online (via mobile phone transmission of the readings from the meters) that reside in a locked management company store room I do not normally have any access to.

Fortunately just as I was about to switch I found this promise was merely a ruse to gain customers and that First Utility never ever install the smart meters.  They are also legendary for their behaviour in suckering customers in on one tariff and then stuffing them on to a much more expensive tariff a few weeks later.  They are also notorious for never properly resolving biling disputes.

By contrast I helped move my mother's electricity supply to www.isupplyenergy.co.uk about 15 months ago and they have been consistently problem free and yet continue to offer the lowest prices per unit.  Also whilst they initially tried to offer only a web form for contact they soon realised this was not practical and introduced a phone number that is always answered in a timely manner.
