Title: Calling 0845s and 0870s from Abroad Post by giles on Jan 14th, 2013 at 9:14pm
(One of my clients has an 0845 number for VOIP every extension in their business!)
When abroad and calling from a landline, telephone companies charge ridiculous prices for phoning UK 0845s - when there is no equivalent geographic number the cheapest I have found is to phone the UK access number for the Tesco or Post Office calling cards and then pay 4 or 8p/min for the call. You have to make £5 of calls within 60/90 days because of the expiry of the Tesco/Post Office phonecard.Anyone any other ideas? |

Depending on the nature of your relationship with your client, I hope that you will point out what he/she is doing to callers.
All users of these numbers are awaiting the statement from Ofcom on how it intends to proceed with regards reform. It is expected that the Unbundled Tariff will be introduced, and fairtelecoms supports this move. This will mean that they will have to be open that they benefit from a small Service Charge of, rather than keeping schtum about any benefit as many do now. What is effectively the Service Charge at the moment is approximate and will be finalised as part of the programme. The 0845 Service Charge is around 2 pence per minute. |
