Title: 07800009720 Post by crisp on Jan 22nd, 2013 at 6:14pm
I have had a number of calls from this number, saying to press 1 to hear the message and 9 to terminate the call. They say you will not be charged for this call. No mention of who the call is from. I just put the phone down as i wonder if it is some scam that will cos me dearly if i press either of those numbers.
Has anybody received any of these type of calls recently? thanks :-? |

Hi there, welcome to SayNoTo0870.com I have had a search via Google for you, there appears to be no info as to who the call is from. However the key thing to point out to MY knowledge is that, if they call you, you are not paying for the call. As far as I am aware it is not possible to "reverse charge" the call after you have pressed a button, as it would have to call you back in order for a new call and a new charge to be made. How often have you received calls from this number? Searches on-line reveal others have been called from it as well. :-/ |

Its not possible to reverse the cost of a call in mid flight,so if you follow the instructions you will not be charged anyway.
Its an ordinary Orange Mobile Number, that appears now to have been cut off. Probaly someone trying to get you to upgrade mobile, do a ppi claim that type of junk call. As CJT-80 points out a number of people have been getting calls from it according to google. |

There was some scam going on a few years back when you got as call and they told you to press 9 and then a charge of £25 was debited to your bill. If my memory is correct these calls originated from Barbados.

With respect i suspect your recycling an old urban myth. :o Unless you know better then us and can explain how you can reverse the cost of an active call into a premium rate service. |

There is a related scam, where you are rung but they hag up before you answer or immediately afterwards. You look at teh number they call from and phone it back out of curiosity.
Turns out it's an 070xx number. Despite appearances these are not mobile numbers, but another form of covert premium rate scam. You've just shelled out 50p and a significant slice of that ends up with the scammer. 070 numbers ought to be banned or honestly placed in the 09 range. Ofcom haven't exactly been active here. As usual. |

Ofcom banned revenue sharing on 070 ages ago.Whether they enforced its thats another matter. The use of 070 for premium services was given to Phone Pay Plus to enforce some time ago. ;) |
