I think that we can safely say that Debenhams does not administer its own insurance, so perhaps knowing who does would allow us to find an alternative.  :-?

Please can you check the number as the one quoted is one digit short.

It would appear that the company is called Eldon Insurance Services Limited whose address is:

We covered this company last year in another thread which is here, although the only number we found was 0191 269 8948 which appears on the FSA register.

I then searched our database for eldon to see if there was anything that might help. I found an unverified entry for Eldon Insurance Services which is 0191 269 8940 and had a note to say that it was "Direct to staff member in claims department given number by IT dept on 0191 269 8940 said her extension was 7037".

There seems to be a pattern in that the numbers start with the same digits.

The number 0845 241 3159 answers without any ringing with "Welcome to Eldon Insurance Services Limited working in partnership with Debenhams..."

I then tried 0191 269 8920 and it answered with the same female voice: "Welcome to Eldon Insurance Services Accidental Damage Team..." This suggests that we are getting warm.

Those numbers that answer "Welcome to Eldon Insurance Services Limited working in partnership with whoever" are voiced by the same female as the Debenhams one, although I haven't found it. However, I should imagine that they are all dealt with at the same place and probably by the same staff, so you may find that you can use one of those.

Let us know how you go and what you try. If you find one that works, then please tell us what it is and I will add an entry to the listings along with a note to say that it answers as another name, but will work for Debenhams Insurance.

Maybe try 85 as it answers "Southern Rock".

The Eldon Insurance contact page gives 0845 numbers with two prefixes:

0845 219 85xx
0845 241 31xx

Based on what I found, I wonder if there is a connection between 0845 219 85aa and 0191 269 89bb where bb=aa+10 which are:

0845 219 855x => 0191 269 896x
0845 219 856x => 0191 269 897x
0845 219 857x => 0191 269 898x

I wonder this because those that identify themselves by the insurance company name clearly fit this pattern:

I've put an entry in the database for this with a note to say that it's for claims only and is handled by Eldon working in partnership with Southern Rock.

I have also added an entry for customer services, 0845 504 5149, with alternative 01454 634101 which is for Commercial Vehicle Direct which operates the insurance for Debenhams.
