Title: Deutsche Bahn
Post by karim434 on Apr 25th, 2013 at 10:48am
Dear All,

I am trying to find an alternative (geographical) number for Deutsche Bahn (DB) U.K.

Their website gives their booking centre telephone number as +44 8718 80 80 66. The only other alternative is to call third party companies but, because this is basically a travel agency; I want to contact them directly to get their own prices.

Please let me know if you are aware of (or can find) a cheaper number for them. Many thanks.

Good Afternoon,

Sadly you gave little information to help us, apart from the number.

However I managed to find the website for DB UK - http://www.bahn.com/i/view/GBR/en/home/contact/contact-in-the-uk.shtml

As you will note from the left hand side of the site, there is a German contact number for after sales service.  I would therefore assume the number given for the UK is done so as the actual contact centre is based in Germany.

That's my view, but maybe someone else has a different one.

I should point out that the German 01805 number is roughly equivalent to the UK 0871 number, so it may not be wise to try it as an alternative.

0180.info lists alternatives to German numbers. For 01805 101111 it lists 0800-6644225 which is a German freephone number.

If calls are answered in Germany, where about is the office?

Arriva was purchased by Deutsche Bahn three years ago.

The UK booking centre address is given, in a number of places as: PO Box 687A, Surbiton, KT6 6UB. This is a PO Box, but may be a start. Perhaps we are looking for an office or outsourced provider in KT6.  :-?

This page gives the same address and telephone 0870 243 5363 and fax 020 8339 4700. The 0870 number gives the TalkTalk "the number you have dialled is not in service" message. The fax goes through to a fax machine.

This page gives:

Deutsche Bahn Ag
Uk Agency
Suite 6/8
23 Oakhill Grove
Surbiton
Surrey
KT6 6DU
United Kingdom

Tel: 020 8390 8388 [This number is not recognised.]

It appears that the fax number, 020 8339 4700, is a useful lead. The number after, 4701, answers as Deutsche Bahn UK, says they can't take the call, gives the opening hours as Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and e-mail address trade@bahn.co.uk. These times are shorter than those given on the website which are Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1pm. The e-mail address also suggests that this number is for trade enquiries.

Putting that e-mail address into Google returns a page that lists 0871 880 8770 which answers the same as 4701.

4705 answers as "Deutsche Bahn Trade Line" and then gives options: 1. Quotations; 2. Bookings. Perhaps someone can let us know what the published 08 number is for this, assuming that it has one.

020 8339 4750 answers the same as the main customer number in the OP, 0871 880 8066.

I have listed 4750 and 4701 with respective 0871 numbers.

Title: Deutsche Bahn UK
Post by karim434 on Jun 8th, 2018 at 12:50pm
Hi all,

I'm trying to find a geographical (or non-0870/0871) alternative number for Deutsche Bahn UK. This was discussed on this forum back in April 2013, and a couple of really useful numbers were found.

Unfortunately, Deutsche Bahn seem to have got wise to both of these numbers. One of them is now a repeating recorded message telling you to call the official number (08718 80 80 66). As of very recently, it seems that the other number is not answered at all (although there is a voicemail option).

Can anyone help with finding another alternative number for Deutsche Bahn UK? Thanks in advance!

You could use Skype or other low cost international services to call the US number that's advertised on their website:
001 646 883 3246

Hi karim434

I have joined your Deutsche Bahn UK post with the existing Deutsche Bahn post.

Having checked the alternative numbers I have found out that:

020 8339 4701/2/3 have recorded messages asking to dial alternative 0871 numbers.

020 8339 4750 (which is the listed alternative for: 0871 880 8066) asks you to hold and then gives a ringing tone to suggest it's connecting to another line. This leaves me to believe it works.

I have placed a "strike out" across the non-working Trade number.

Please can you advise what number you tried and got a voicemail?

Also Deutsche Bahn advised they can be contacted by other means here.

I hope this helps.

Hi there,

Thank you for your help.

I agree: the 020 8339 4750 number does sound like it transfers to another line, and it is this one that has worked fine until recently. However, after a fair few rings, it now invariably passes to voicemail.

There is at least one variant which goes straight to voicemail (no ringing out beforehand): 020 8339 4755. Others I have tried (around the area of ~4750-4760) have done this or played that same recorded message as the ~4701/2/3 numbers.
