This is indeed "incorrect", it should say "mobiles and landlines".

It is not however actually misleading, in respect of advising the cost of calling the number. In the current situation, residential customers see no distinction between the rates charged for local, national and 03 calls. The problem we have is that "local rate" and "national rate" are the only terms that people understand. "UK rate" has not been generally adopted, and so is not clearly understood.

It is incorrect to imply that the cost of calling within the UK depends on location. The only exception is for customers of KC in Hull and East Yorkshire, who enjoy a distinct local rate. They will be aware of their unique special status and are unlikely to be misled by any reference to "local rate" in a national context.

(I recall this issue being discussed at length in another thread.)

I expect they used to display an 0117 number (possibly 0117 954 2222 from a quick search) and didn't change the text when they adopted an 0300 number. It doesn't make the text any more correct, just a lot more likely.

As local and national rates ceased to exist on 1 July 2004, they've some catching up to do!

I did e-mail them or use the contact form.. to point out that the details regarding the calling rate was incorrect.. and even included a link to the Ofcom page giving the info regarding geographic rates to callers, and being included in inclusive minutes plans

:)
