Subscribers' contracts are with ASDA Mobile rather than the network operator (Vodafone or EE), so which clause allows forfeiting of credit should ASDA Mobile decide to change its supplier? Is this legally enforceable? :-?

BBC Radio 4, (Money Box), at noon today has some info on this, from their weekly email: -

"Asda, Britain's lowest priced supermarket, planned to snaffle money from thousands of customer who used its mobile phone service when it changes networks from April. Customers who had any credit on the Pay As You Go mobile phone at the changeover in April were told they had to use it or lose it. A compliance lawyer tells us whether Asda is breaching its contract with its customers. And now Asda has said ... find out on Saturday."

Just listened to this and it sounds like Asda has backtracked somewhat in a statement issued yesterday:

"We expect very few customers will be affected by this issue, but for those that are we will work with them, closer to the date of the switch deadline, to make sure they are not out of pocket. We will send further communication to the few affected customers closer to the time."

ASDA have texted me (and I assume all other customers) that

Your credit will expire on 30/4/14 ... but do not worry we will refund any unused credit. We will contact you nearer 30/4/14.

However, anyone who shops around will presumably switch to Three, who are currently offering a very cheap PAYG deal.

Depends on your useage and coverage i would imagine. Ovivo sim only deal is very good for low users.
