Title: Transport For Manchester Switch To 0845
Post by bigjohn on Oct 23rd, 2013 at 4:32pm
I see  Transport For Manchester Ring & Ride service that  provides a door-to-door accessible minibus service for people of all ages who find it difficult to use ordinary public transport, has   switched to a centralised 0845 number. Prior to that it use to give out geographical numbers for its local depots.

Plus the description of the number is lacking.

"Booking line: 0845 688 3989 open 8am to 4pm daily (All calls are charged at local rates. Mobile phone networks may charge an additional tariff). "

See here where geographical numbers were previously promoted.

Hi there BigJohn,

I have a disabled friend in the Greater Manchester area, and he refused to contact them after they changed the number over.  He ONLY uses a mobile phone and obviously it's expensive to call 08 numbers.

He also had a few other issues with them.

I think it maybe worth anyone who does use the service, or calls them on someone's behalf to give them feedback on the use of an 08 number here.  It's a standard rate 0161 number or an e-mail address.

I will suggest my friend contact's them or I do it for him with his feedback.

:(
