Title: Highways Agency 03 Number Incorrect Call Costs.
Post by bigjohn on Oct 26th, 2013 at 6:12pm
I see the press release about the severe weather conditions this weekend contains duff info about the cost of calls to the 03 information line.

"Real-time traffic information for England’s motorways and other strategic roads is available:

- From the web at www.highways.gov.uk/traffic.
- By phone from the Highways Agency Information Line on 0300 123 5000 at any time. (Calls to 0300 numbers will cost no more than 5p per minute from a standard BT residential landline. Call charges from other landlines and mobile networks may vary, but will be no more than a standard geographic call and will be included in all inclusive minutes and discount schemes)"

The cost of chargeable  03 calls  on BT currently are if i recall correctly are 9p a minute and up to 15p connection charge.

I wonder where they source their info. :-?

There's no need to mention any specific rates or providers.

It's already in the process of being fixed.

I am aware of that. Are they going to fix the website contact info as well which talks of national rate.

It appears they have been quoting incorrect call charges for some time now. See : http://www.pressat.co.uk/releases/150-investment-to-boost-east-midlands-economy-as-a453-widening-starts-construction-e34c942b8dac291576056d63ea860a30/

The incorrrect mention of 5p/min call price is odd.

If they previously used an 0844 number, it's possible the pricing text wasn't updated after the change of number.

Which is very odd as their contact us page gives the right call info.
