Title: Calling 03 numbers from outside the UK. Post by bigjohn on Feb 20th, 2014 at 7:43pm
Is anyone aware if there is a problem about calling 03 numbers from outside the UK like there was with some 08 numbers.
I only ask because in noticed Metro Bank offering a 01/02 alternative to their 03 number when calling from outside UK. |

I guess there are two issues.
One is that some overseas providers may choose to not connect these calls. Perhaps they don't realise they are geographic-rate calls. The other is that they may connect these calls, but charge them at vastly different rates to those they apply on calls to 01 and 02 numbers. I would hope Ofcom have some data on this. Police forces using non-geographic numbers have a blank in the "from abroad" column: http://www.police.uk/contact/alternative-non-emergency-numbers/ |

Yes there is.. and one of the users on here, sorry can't remember who (I am sure they will indicate it's them) called PlusNet on their 0345 number from Spain via Orange I believe and was charged MUCH more than a call to a 01 number would have been... It would be good of ALL providers to give a number out that can be called from Outside the UK and present it in a +44 format to avoid confusion. :) |
