I only recently started paying attention to 08 numbers (i thought they are all local/national rate) whilst building cheap call comparison site. But 09 shouts at you beware!!! I am surprised people are not giving it a second thought.
@kasg Ofcom says 03 is no more than national cost and should be included with inclusive geographical numbers. To which mountain you're referring? |

Well it's Ofcom's job to do the education really, but they don't seem to do that any more, so it's up to those who advertise 03 numbers to ensure that they give the correct information about charging, avoiding terms like national and local rate and keeping it simple. |

Ofcom efforts in communicating the facts about 03 numbers have been very poor. I understand however that this will be rectified as part of the communications programme about the unbundled tariff, which will begin shortly, leading up to the implementation on 26 June 2015. The unbundled tariff itself, as well as making 080 numbers "freephone" for all, should address the topic of this thread. |
