That is not misleading, it is a downright and utter lie. . |

The journalist wanted to balance the article by including the views of all parties, including the Department of Health and NHS England, the Patients Association and practices including on our list. Regrettably, we have to accept that, as with all newspaper articles, this is one reason why it includes many false statements. We must however draw comfort from the fact that the general sense of the article, and much of the content, was making a point with which we agree. Campaigning efforts against the misuse of 084 numbers have not been totally successful, but together we have achieved an enormous amount. All should take credit for their part in this (continuing) battle. |

It is untrue, but calling it a lie implies it was deliberate and it wouldn't have been, on the part of the journalist. Of course, before the introduction of the access charge, it could have been true for some BT subscribers but that's as close as it gets. |

Semantics, an untruth is a lie, if we use your take re the journalist then it is sloppy research/journalism at best. Talking about history,(which there is no need to), re BT, 0844 numbers never have been, (and still aren't), charged at the same rate as 01/02/03 and have never been included in packages/bundles, ergo could never have been "charged an amount similar to dialling a local number ", also no mention in the article about BT, so mostly supposition on your part. . |
Title: Re: GP practices still using premium rate numbers. Post by Ian01 on Apr 13th, 2016 at 11:37am Since 1 July 2015 we have the clarity that calls to 084 and 087 numbers are (almost) never cheaper than calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers. The message is taking some time to propagate. |
