I have received nuisance calls on my unlisted TPS phone number from 01587 985 456 from a supposed computer expert.
I would like to find out the source, as they are breaking the law by calling an unlisted number.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi the chances are that if a company has obtained your number and you have not posted it on any web sites they are either using an automatic dialler or they have obtained your details via a list. Contact your telephone provider and you need to be listed XXD this service excluded survey calls and XD allows companies to call a number if they claim to be carrying out a survey.

Further research suggests that this is a none geographical number posing as a number located within the UK.

Block the number as there is very little can be done to stop the calls. OFCOM does not have any say outside the UK

Its either a spoof number or possibly an Indian Number without the Intl Dialling Code in front.

01587 has never been allocated in UK.

Making your phone ex directory want help if your number has been put on a bucket shop call centre auto dial system.

Hi Bigjohn when you say a bucket list how is the number obtained if it has not been in the public domain. For example if the number has not been given out to any third party company how do they obtain the number and insert it on a bucket list and indeed what is a bucket list. I thought that these companies had automaticI diallers and they just used a number hook system one call after another.

Most of these calls use AutoDialler's which just dial a series of numbers so for example 020 7123 4567 and then 020 7123 4568 etc etc until they get a live number.

It's a situation that's got well out of hand!

A trueCall unit, or BT Call Guardian unit incorporating trueCall technology, issues a verbal challenge to all unknown callers. Nuisance callers simply hang up at this point.

As I’ve heard recently, there are various products and services that can help block nuisance calls, although you may need to pay to use them. Or I colleague of mine was investigating how to stop receiving such calls, so, she found hundreds of online complaints, petitions to sign, I think the more people will take such actions, the sooner some law will be issued to fight against nuisance calls & texts.
