the number 0870 2412656 has been appearing on my home telephone bills for 3 months usually very very early mornings .. i have changed phone providers to try and stop it with no luck !  . it seems to be a fax number . i live alone . have unplugged my scanner copier fax etc switched off my lap top etc etc . but it still keeps getting dialed from my property . bt say the :(y cant help  or sky who i have my line with . i dont have sky tv service so no box for that . any help please to see who owns this number please

My guess would be a burglar or fire alarm auto-dialling 'to check functionality'. 

Firms used to make a bundle with 0870 numbers doing this but there's no possibility of them making anything from it now.

yep thats the route i went . had my alarm company come out and check it over . they were there an hour but they couldnt find a problem and didnt recognize the number .

With an Access Charge of up to 12p per minute and a Service Charge of up to 13p per minute this can get expensive.

These numbers can pay out up to around 9p per minute in revenue share. There must be thousands of people in this position.
