Plus.net [PlusNet] Cust Services/Tech Support
Apr 9th, 2004 at 9:47am

Does anyone have a geographical number for my ISP - Plusnet?

Either their customer services or tech support would do as they can transfer you around.

Plusnet (the same address as Force Nine  both in Sheffield) is 0114 2200000.

This is still an automated system.

Regards,

Robert

The number given for Plusnet 0845 1400200 is not accurate ,given as 0114 2200000
This gives a similar recorded message but is not answered by any Human
tried for over an hour twice ,at 20.00 and again at 10.00 the next day
Had to ring the 0845 number ( 5 min wait ) to get any assistance
I am not a Plusnet customer , was trying to check on a connection problem for a non comp literate friend

Very sorry old thing but the impossible we do while you wait (
admittedly a long time in this case
!
), Miracles take a little longer !  Undecided

It's not that it's not accurate, it's either they are busy, don't have enough operators, or both !

We can only supply the alternate numbers - we can't guarantee that anyone will answer it quickly !!

I think Plusnet have twigged the existance of this number being on the net and have made it effectivley
an "Announce " only line
The recorded announcement is subtly diiferent therefore
the geog number is not an exact match for the 0845

That's probably correct & doesn't surprise me one bit.

Most call centre NGN's have multiple numbers assigned to them and it's the first that's available that answers, so you see we never get it absolutely correct. If the operator at that number hasn't logged on, you might get a recorded message, voicemail, dead tone, redirection, or whatever they decide.

We just do the best we can with the info we can find.   Grin

A number in the unverified is 0114 2200008, which similar to the 'old' 0114 2200000. Maybe some others nearby also work.  Undecided

Well...here's another one doing the same thing. Having just signed up to Plusnet for broadband, partly because this site provided a geographic alternative to their 0845 number, I am horrified and angry to discover they have invalidated the 0114 2200000 number and disconnect you, telling you to redial on 0845 1400200. Can't we beat them at their own game and find an international access number maybe? I have tried but unsuccessful so far.
Please Help!!

Did you prefix the geographic number with 141 to hide the fact you were dialling from within the UK? (see the first entry on this site http://www.saynoto0870.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.cgi?num=1138400882)

More on Plusnet.

They offer VoIP - but the incoming number you receive is ...you guessed it - 0845xxxxx.

So, it would appear they make a profit on every incoming call you receive.

In addition, a friend recently signed up with them and had problems. They flatly refused to call back and the average wait time on their 0845 help number was 45 minutes......

Undecided

I take the point about dialling 141 before calling, but cheap providers like 1899, 18185 etc. dont support 141 prefix numbers. What about dialling 0044....? Can they still detect inland calling?

A UK Info search for Plusnet gave the postcode of S26 1HF.
A postcode search brought up PC WHOLESALE (UK) LTD, also sharing the 0114 2200000

No other seach gave anything better for pc wholesale.

A 192 for Plusnet gives
PLUSNET ASP LTD TECHNOLOGY BUILDINGS INSIGHT CAMPUS TERRY STREET SHEFFIELD S9 2BU
0114 220 0059

Their fax, wherever listed, ends in 0055. So it looks like they own the sequence between 00 & 59.
If you're using a free service to dial out, eg voipstunt, then it won't hurt to try a few of the in between numbers.

Had another go, this time googling plusnet + 0114

You could try Metronet which is part of the plusnet group. Tel: 0114 296 5185
Also based in Terry St.
Force9 also share the same sequence of numbers, and are part of the group.

Best of luck.

Customer Support is on 0845 140 0200 - but very long wait times unless you use their 09x/50p min line.

Address: Plusnet plc, Internet House, 8 Furnival Road, Sheffield S4 7YA

The unverified database has 0114 2200000 and 0114 2200001 which have a note saying that they redirect to the 0845 number. Going by this, I would say that Plus Net's numbers begin 0114 22000xx.
