Orange Mobile Customer Services (PM and PAYG)
Dec 19th, 2004 at 12:29am

Hi i tried the orange PAYG number listed on this site (the free one), but there is no longer an option "3" to press.

I managed to get through ok the other day, but I think it was a one off, and i can't seem to do it again.

Yes I just called them using the 0500 number and got through, but when I spoke to someone they said as I am PAYG, I would have to call a chargeable number.

They would not....despite me asking and questioning the reason behind the high price of the premium rate number...give me an alternative free phone or at least geographic number.

08000797777

I called this today; given it yesterday evening by Orange contract cs as payg dept.

(Contract ending and they're sending payg sim instead - so maybe it's just new registrations). Worth a try though

Apologies. It probably is just for new sim registration; and there's a different one if you want a new number or are a new customer. I just thought its similarity to the 2222 I remember could be helpful.

Nothing to stop you trying though!

Orange have on 1 0800 prefix allocated to them. That is 0800 079 (see Numbers administered by Ofcom). That gives 10,000 numbers to try. Maybe someone wants to start mapping them out...

You can call Orange PAYG free on 0800 079 4040 - this is their secret number for shops to call, but they can't tell that you've used the free one.  There's an interesting option on this number for Retail Support - this will put you through to the people who run the shops, great if you have a complaint!

I've been trying to contact Orange PAYG, and when I dialed 0800 80 10 80, I was presented with many options but none of them seemed to point at PAYG - all were for Pay Monthly.

And I also tried questa's suggested number 0800 079 4040, but that carries a recorded message saying "This number is currently out of use".  Anyone know of the new number/a different freephone for Orange??

the number is 08000791050

08000794040 works fine, its the number the shops use - i just tried it and it is working fine didly dandy

OPTIONS:

1. Customer accounts - you want this one!
2. Returns - shop wont cancel your contract? Pretend to be a shop and do it here!
3. Blacklisting and coverage - check if there are network issues in your area
4. Store maintenance, IT systems - order a new computer for an Orange shop! or send aload of engineers round to fix various things. They won't even check you work there
5. Online registrations (Enable) - no use to you guys really, POS - order a load of posters and some dummy handsets!, store support - good for complaints, these guys are in charge of the shops

Called Orange Customer Services earlier this evening to alter the registered user of a phone I had with them. As the phone is on PAYG, called on 0800 0790005 from our landline. After 85 minutes in the queue listening to music. I dialled 450 from the mobile and then chose options 1,4 and 2 from the menus and got into the anothe queue but listening to the same music. Orange CS answered the call from the mobile after 15 minutes, by which time the Landline queue had been on for 100 minutes so I ended that call.

The CS lady apologised but it is clear that they do not like answering calls from landlines using the 0800 number even though they are paying for you to hold.

This is even worst customer service than Sky, I had thought about having Broadband via Orange but after experiencing such dreadful CS there is no way I would do that. I'm glad that my new mobile is with Tesco expecially as there is now a Geo number to call the CS that gets answered in a reasonable time.

Hi and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

I repeat comments made elsewhere that Orange uses 0870 numbers for all its offices and customer helplines are 07 number operated by itself, which on principle is the same.

Take your pick from the 0800 numbers. If you have to call the 07973 number, then it will be treated as a mobile call from any other network other than Orange. So if someone has a mobile with inclusive minutes on, they will apply there. Not sure what it will cost from an Orange mobile because Orange could bill it differently to other 07mobile numbers.

If calling from a landline, use 18185 during the week as it will cost 6ppm (charged in whole minute intervals) plus 5p connection.
