Hello,

Overclockers.co.uk have a technical suport number that is:
0871 222 8528

I've found the alternative number for sales:
01782 339600
But there doesn't seem to be a way of getting transferred to technical support from that number.

A search on the BT online phone directory reveals just the above 339600 number.

Does anyone know the alternative number for 0871 222 8528?

I've got a few numbers for you to try for me so please call them ASAP and post the results here so I can check them against my findings.

The two main ones I want you to try are 01782 339604 and 339616. They had an announcement saying Mon-Fri 10am-5pm, Sat 10am-4pm; slightly different to the hours on the website.

Next to try are 339605 and 339612 - amongst others I found, these were busy, a common 0870 occurrance after hours.

The results are important and should tell me what I want to know. In case you're not sure what I'm doing, I am mapping their network to hopefully find the numbers required. Grin

Hello,

For some reason I couldn't use this forum at work, my user name would be displayed then I click on a topic and suddenly I'm reverted back to 'guest status'.

Back on topic....

I have tried the following numbers between 11:45 and 12:00 today and here are the results:

339604
Answer: "Thank you for calling, your call is being held in a queue"

339616
Answer: "Welcome to Overclockers Technical Support, Thank you for calling, your call is being held in a queue"

339605 & 339612 were engaged after repeated tries.

The 0871 number itself was mostly engaged but once (about 9am) came up with a recorded message identical to one of the two messages above.

Thanks for the numbers.

I think you may have a Cookie problem there on your work Pc. Mention it to Daniel in an Instant Message.
I suspect that most of the busy lines I had were support numbers so 339604 may be Customer or Tech support, with 339616 the Tech support (as you confirmed).

Depending on their exchange system, I suspect the busy lines were either not logged in or may have been busy on calls. If anyone knows anything different, please let me know as I'm still not "au fait" with all systems, & I'm keen to learn more.

Another number I found that may be useful to you was

PreSales support/Customer services

on 339621. Grin

If that doesn't work, you should perhaps try other numbers in the 01782 339 6xx range (where xx starts 01, 02, 03 etc.) In my opinion, I wouldn't want to buy from a company that only has NGNs.

I'm trying to get the one for their Systems department (apparently different from technical support) for future reference, I've been forced to use the 0871 222 8529 number (similar to the one for tech support, except that one ends 8528) for them so far

I intend to post an update to the entry for Overclockers, but I want to add a bunch together since for some of them they have no corresponding 087 number but are still not listed and may be of use to customers! The Systems one is the only one missing for the collection now I think!

So you can see why I'm puzzled over not hitting the one for Systems! aybe they are in another area, or the 0871 redirects to a mobile... if anyone can find it it would be cool and a complete list for the site

It's totally wrong to make people pay extra to call when it's to return faulty goods and such... However they DO NOT SEEM TO BE A BAD COMPANY at least from my experience oh I know what I'll do I'll post as the weird name login below just to make sure, I change my mind about using a diff name Wink

yeah "weird name" here, above post is me - like I said I changed my mind, I just figured that saying the company isn't that bad from a random 1 post account probably looks weird like an employee or something saying it, but tis not.

So again starting afresh with the little reply at the end there to the previous previous post by sicooke - I've had no problems with them and as you can see from my SoftUK topic I'm not easy on companies who appear to be scammers or treat customers like crap - Overclockers though for all that some people seem to have problems with haven't done me any bad at least, in fact they were really helpful when I ordered a PC from them and needed to return it after finding out that the PSU they supplied for the PC probably wouldn't last too long with the setup I chose (and also needing the graphics card changed after there was a misunderstanding on the phone - there's 3 different graphics card called X-fi titanium apparently) - Also included the boxes manuals and stuff for the extras I chose like Corsair 1000HX, shiny sticky badge thing to put on PC, logo'd pouch for bits, CDs etc - though graphisc card was OEM which was a bit of a pain because no VGA (CRT) adapter - but that's more of a general risk about buying pre-built PCs rather than OC UK in particular.

The thing I don't agree with is yeah, forcing people to call numbers with extra fees on top (especially ones that aren't labelled clearly as such like 08 numbers - most people still think they are cheaper or freephone like the very similar 080 numbers) even for things like needing to return faulty or incorrect goods - essentially paying extra for problems not caused by the customer

Their archrival (seriously! they both seem to hate each other's guts it seems quite personal) Scan does the same thing too though despite having slightly more open customer service via a forum (though they still censor on their own forum [for example, mentioning this site = woosh, gone] like I've been told OC UK does)

If they supplied a system that wasn't fit for purpose, then that was definitely their fault. But I wondered, can't you just exchange the power supply? Sending the whole PC back must cost a fortune. To be honest, it's probably better to buy the components and assemble them yourself, if you're into high-end or custom PCs!

Anyway, I'd call the customer services on the number you have, and ask for the faults to be put right. You're not requesting technical support, but are arranging an exchange of faulty goods.

Oh, I think you misunderstood me - I said they were really helpful because they in fact did do that

They took it back free of charge and switched the sound card to the right one I wanted and the PSU

And as for assemble yourself - nahhhh, I'd probably only break it, not a technical guy heh

It's all sorted now, if you re-read my post you maybe might get what I meant now? I just want to get the Systems number for in case of future need and so that others in need don't have to dial around hoping and failing to find it like I did!
