vectone bangla on SKY digital channel 833 is making fortune by asking viewers to call them through a 090.... number.

Desperately looking for a normal number as my 70 years old mother tend to talk through that number without realising the charges( 50p/per min). Angry

I understand the problem, but this is a genuine premium rate number. On this site we are looking for numbers for those companies which use 084/087 numbers as a way of covertly getting extra revenue, usually for services which have already been paid for (eg insurance, banks, etc).

I don't know anything about this channel, but at 50p/min it is reasonable to assume that the caller is paying them for a 'service'.

All I can suggest is that you consider barring premium rate numbers from your mother's phone.

Most telephone companies can bar 09xx numbers if the subscriber asks (BT do it for free).

Hi there!

Can anyone please help. I watch this free to view programme on Sky Channel 833. They have a premium rate number at 50p a minute which is a right rip off. Is there anyway of finding out the landline number.

I know that it's possible as I was wasting money at that rate calling Customer Service for my Genie Mobile until I discovered the landline number on this website.

So, someone please help. Much appreciated.

Many thanks [/b][/color]

Well if you can afford to pay Mr Murdoch for Sky, then you can afford the call. Is the call to this number to allow you to watch the channel? If so, then the cost of the call is to pay for a 'service'. I don't know whether you know, but 0909 numbers are for adult services?

Is this the channel you're after by any chance?

LoL No it's not to pay for a service nor an adult service. You can switch to the channel to have a look as it's a FREE TO VIEW channel.

The number is for a live phone in.  The whole channel is based on the public calling these premium rate number and talking to the presenter or guests.

This is a legitimate use of the premium rate service. Where you pay or part pay for the service recieved!!!

Unlike 0845/0870 being lumbered upon us for everyday use.

Does that mean it's not possible?

The oly reason I thought it was possible to get hold of a number is, as I mentioned in my original posting o2 Genie has the same 50p a minute Customer Service number for it's on-line customers but you can actually call them on a land-line number that puts you through to the exact same operators!

Anyway, thanks for your help guys & gals!

It may well be possible, but you would have to find the correct number which only Vectone will know. I very much doubt that switchboard or someone else would put you through.
