1899 Calls to USA have gone up
Apr 14th, 2005 at 5:53pm

Hi,
Made a call this morning on 1899 to the USA at 3p a call, this evening it now says 1/2p a minute. It's still a very good price but no longer the bargain it once was. All good things come to an end I suppose. There is of course  a 3p connection charge as well.

Am I right in thinking that when you call the 08447 20 20 20 access number you will be charged from the time that number answers and that it is subject to the BT minimum 5p call charge ?

Yes (well, it's 4.8p on OneTel but BT's equivalent is 5p).

Latest news
26.01.2005:  Canada, Germany, USA for only 3p per call !!!
1899.com has more super deals in store for you!

Call any landline in the following countries for 3p per call!!
-Canada
-Germany
-USA

You will only pay our 3p connection fee per call and no charge per minute! So, talk as long as you like for only 3p per call.

Other companies offering such calls still charge a high subscription amount per month. With 1899 you are only charged for the calls you actually make!

Latest news coppied straight from the 1899 web site (yes I know that you are actually charged 3p to connect +½p per minute thereafter for North America

That was their latest news on 26/1/05.

Since then, however, prices have changed again and only calls to Germany remain at 3p a pop (THIS THREAD on the MSE site was the first I heard of the changes).

I just called France  still 1p and still 1p on the website, sometimes if they have no lines at the posted rate they charge more. What they say on the tariff message is the price you pay

France is 1p/minute from a BT landline (i.e. using the 1899 prefix) but 2p/minute from a cable landline (using the 08081708708 freephone number).

3p connection applies to both.
