Re: OCADO customer service landline?

Hi -- Thanks v much for the info.

0845 nos cost 6p setup charge + 4p/min = so 3 min 0845 call costs 18p.

Yes, using e.g. 1899, the Irish number is a bit cheaper than 0845.  But I don't want to pay anything for the privilege of telling Ocado that they have sent me the wrong goods!  The 01707 nos are, as I already said, the Ocado Head Office & they won't (so far in my experience!) connect me to the CS Call Centre. So they are no use.

Have you tried the Irish number? You can dial it cheaply using various services (although, where are you calling from if 0845 costs 6p/min?) I know it's still far from ideal, though, as it costs something.

Also, have you tried contacting them via their website?
http://www.ocado.com/webshop/getContactUs.do?contactUs=true

Ocado have various numbers in Hatfield:

Switchboard: 01707 228000
Recruitment: 01707 228111
Pam Ware: 01707 227978
Fax: 01707 227999

So it seems they have numbers in the range 22797x-22811x

Those 0845 call costs are a little out of date.  There is a MUCH cheaper way of calling 0845 numbers.  In any case, even BT never charges more than 2p/minute now (see HERE).

Presumably you are a customer, so can't you log in and send a message via the website? They claim that's a "Really fast" way to contact them. You would also have something in writing then, which is usually better than just telling someone over the phone, of which you then have no record.

Thanks Heinz.  You are quite right. I was given completely the wrong outdated information by a BT operator a couple of weeks ago (he told me 6p connection charge + 4p/min). The current 0845 cost appears to be 2p/min as you say (0.5p/min cheap rate), so a 3min call would cost 6p, not 18p.

However I am still confused:  I phoned 100 four times just now, and all operators told me that 0845 price was 2p/min daytime rate, and that there was NO minumum charge or connection charge.  Heinz's moneysavingexpert.com link below however gives the cost as 7p PLUS 2p/minute.  Who is right?

Of course whatever the answer doesn't completely solve the problem, because it still costs quite a lot to call Ocado CS!

I can of course send a message via the website, or via email: but that means I have to be near a computer.  In any case, the website CS is easy, but not fast.  Talking to someone is often easiest, and usually best.

I got thru to Ocado CS today on their Head Office number (01707 228000), but a few days ago another operator on the same number refused to transfer me, so it's not 100% reliable.  I'll test some of the other 01707 numbers to see if they answer after 6pm, but I haven't found one yet.

Well, you'd think it would be them wouldn't you?

But it isn't.

As per that 'HERE' link in my previous post, I pay 4p connection and ½p per minute whenever I have to call a 0845 number (via 18185's freephone gateway number).

I've clicked on "reply" - hope that was right, I prefer to resurrect an old thread over starting an unnecessary duplicate missing the previous contributions, this is the exact topic.  I've re-read the instructions...

I wanted to ring Ocado Customer Services (the internet delivery people, the address is below) to query my on-line account status.

The Ocado customer services number I have is 0845 656 1234.

It isn't in the saynoto0870 database.

I understand that many BT (Option 3?) customers now get their 0845s and 0870s free.

In my case (TalkTalk), many international numbers are free but 0845s and 0870s are not.  In that case, I am better to ring abroad (e.g. Lufthansa on a geographical number in Germany) withholding my number using 141.

What is "the Irish number"?  It's not actually mentioned here! Wink

I have found this on the 192 web site.

01707 227 800
01707 227 999 (fax)

I don't know if works but worth giving it a try.

This number has been given in previous replies on this thread.

As with your BA request, please check the database! There are two numbers in there already - one for customer services in Ireland and one for the Ocado switchboard in the UK.

what you are saying is, please check the database by name.  I did read the instructions but missed this bit.

Sorry jgxenite, I always search here by number, now I know what to do if unsuccessful.  To avoid other goonish posts, maybe you could insert the "patpending read the manual" Wink clause to highlight that an unsuccessful number search should be followed by a name search...

hope there aren't too many darts in your monitor... Wink
