It looks as though RM expect you to pay them for a postcode which makes it easier for them to deliver mail!!!
You can still send mail without a post code, but you can also find it out on their website.

This is a newly built block of flats, with no postcode on the web as yet. I enquired on the web a week ago, and just got an acknowledgement today - saying it would take several more days to find.
I need the post code for research purposes. no wonder they have such a poor reputation for customer service.

Ring or go to your local Post Office. Failing that, are there any neighbouring properties? If you have one either side which have the same post code, maybe yours will be the same. Failing that, if you use one of your neighbour's post code, I would think it will still get there because the local posty won't be interested in post codes. Maybe you could suggest this to your PO, see what they say.

The Royal Mail have a number of call centres that answer these calls around the Uk.I tried to blag the 0845 alternative number recently by pretending that my friend couldnt ring the number from abroad. The operator said she hadnt got one to give out,and suggested he use the Internet.
The use of the 090 number to provide Post Codes is unfortunately in this case a legitimate one.( IE.THE PROVISION OF INFORMATION SERVICES)
If its any consolation to you if you ring the 0845 no after 6pm or at weekends its only 1p a min if you use BT,or if you access it via the 1280 BT over ride number.Min call charge of 5p applies.

I need to query a post code with Royal Mail. The number I have got is 0906 3021222.
If anyone knows of a Geographical number I would be grateful.
Thanks!

They use the same database so it's unlikely they'll be able to tell you anything an online (failed) check doesn't.

Try phoning them outside the hours of operation of the 0906 number using the geo alternative listed in database.

Nope.
VERY, VERY MUCH better.
It does like, or seem to need, the post town, but is much faster and actually gives the correct layout and so on, when the Royal Mail system still seems slow.
