Brighton Tourist Board
May 27th, 2005 at 8:56am

Hi there

Does anybody know of a non geo number for the Brighton Tourist Board and not the 0906 711 2255 (calls cost 50p per minute, UK only) number.  Extortionate price!!!!!

The number given for calls abroad (01273 292590) does not work within this country.

Many thanks

Much as I agree the cost is excessive, the use of an '09' number in this case is legitimate and not 'hidden' from the caller.

In any case, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to find the geographical alternative, if there is one.

and see if they will put you through.

That geographical (01273 292590) number worked for me when I rung from my mobile (it rang out anyhow)

Yes it does ring but goes to a message which tells the caller to ring the premium no, or leave a message.

Just rung again from my mobile and waited for them to answer the phone and they did.

If you're ringing from landline you get that message but not when I rung from my mobile!

Hi

thanks for all the comments.  I tried the 01273 292590 number just now and got a reply - but was told that it was only a telephone on a counter and for today's accommodation booking information.

Thank you all once again.

Oh! and I also left a message on another number I found on a website (01273 292599) which directed me to the 0906 number  -  to say that I consider using this 50p per minute line very bad practice.  An 0906 number was used in a Bournemouth tourist office and as far as I am aware has been removed as it was not liked by the public.
