I wish to point out that if the BRITISH PEOPLE won't do their BRITISH JOBS properly, then the BRITISH JOBS will be outsourced so that the economic viability of the respective companies is upheld.

Alliance & Leicester is one of the companies which proudly promotes the fact that they have "UK Call Centres", yet the service I have received from them is absolutely atrocious.  However, Eaglestar (now Zurich) moved their call centre abroad and I was able to converse freely and effectively with the Indian worker on the other end, who had a 1st degree in Engineering.  He was educated, polite and respectful, which is more than I can say for the some of the vindictive scum who work in our own call centres.

If we can't do our own jobs properly, then it is a sad but true fact that the jobs will move.  Don't think I don't support British industry, because I do! It's just that I see no valid reason to support this particular sector other than the fact that "we are losing British jobs".

Are you suggesting they are economically unviable? I suggest that they see it as an excuse to make more money whilst providing a poorer service and making their British workforce redundant.

All I want to say is that I will give my custom to companies which run competent call centres and provide an adequate service.  I don't care where the call centre is, as long as the people answering calls are polite, patient, efficient, and know what they're doing.

I’ve received services from call centres in India with no problem. Yes some of you are being prejudice as you are judging someone’s ability to deliver a service based on their accent. Everyone has an accent; there is nothing wrong with that. I found they speak very good English. Maybe some of you have had difficulties with communication due to your own poor English and ability to express yourself orally. It’s easy to shift the blame. 

Titus – “our people come first”………. Have you ever wondered what the world would be like if everyone globally had that attitude? British people wouldn’t have the luxurious life style they have now. You would have to pay so much more for tea, chocolate etc.

I just can't believe that people who are so prejudice regarding accent are allowed to moderate this site - i.e DaveM!

Some people claim that they are unhappy as the call centres are so far away. However I doubt they would complain if American's rather than Indian's were answering their calls. Also I doubt the real issue is location anyway as if the Indian's were to come to the UK to work in call centres some idiots would still complain. It's their accent they have an issue with as they are prejudice.

are you saying that cos ive got a norfolk farmer accent that I give cr*p service to my fellow union members, and that my union should outsource beacuse we give cr*p service?

What are you talking about?

jamesbond asked which numbers go through to British call centres as opposed to Indian ones.

DaveM answered this by saying that the only way is ring them and find out which have English accents. What has this got to do with being predice? It is simply answering the question in the original post.

mc661 - exactly, who is to say just because someone has a norfolk accent, they do a bad job. Exactly my point!!
