Alternative to B.T please ???
Aug 8th, 2005 at 6:45am

Hi all,   A great site that can benefit everyone.
I am currently with B.T. I have Together 1 and  B.B ‘basic’. I also have a small bundle (!) Call Waiting + second number (whatever it’s called) + Caller I.D (Privacy).
I would love to get away from B.T altogether and have been looking into alternatives.
Whilst most of them have a great ‘hook’, the rest of the service might not be quite so good.
I do understand that most of my money would ultimately end up in B.T’s coffers whoever I use,,, but,,, what are the cheaper/better ‘all-round’ alternatives ?
Sorry if this has been covered.
thanks for reading this

BT are still the best supplier for the package you have cos they give caller display free, and other suppliers charge from £1.50p a month.Which outweighs any small savings you might make on cheaper line rental. But more importantly no other alternative provider eg Onetel support Call Sign(2 Numbers!!!)

Are using another supplier for your calls eg

Cheers B.J,
I have registered with 18866 for the time being. The L.Line side seems great. Whilst waiting for my customer number I registered my VIRGIN Moby too. I think that was a bit 'previous' as I think we can just add numbers to our Initial account once up'n'running ??
1/ Should I unsubscribe my Moby account,,, then just add it to my L.Line account ?
2/ I was charged by both Virgin and 18866 for a Moby call. What did I do wrong ?
3/ I do take 'on-board' what 18866 say about spending time & resources by helping people, but wouldn't it enhance their business by helping people to get set up properly in the first place ?
(have started another post with this John, in case people don’t see this thread,,,)
many thanks

Talk Talk special offer of free for 3 months all calls nationally free with line rental of £9.99.

I'm still trying to get them to give me pricing on the call forwarding fee, they say you transfer that too, but is there a discount?

One problem I have found though is they charge 4.2 p per minute for forwarded calls. BT charges 3p if you pay there £1.50 mobile package.

Some might tell you about the advantages of calling ID with BT being free, but I feel they still charge for it on ISDN lines, so I think it's there usual policy of having alternative providers to lead before they will implement a proper service.

Yes but after the three months is up it reverts to £7.99 a month.Which is the equivalent of 399 landline 01/02  calls on 18866 a month.

Talk Talk charge £1.50 p for call divert.
They also charge £1.50p a month for CLI where as on BT its free.So if you Switch and you have got CLI you are paying more.

Also you need to take into account that TT could stop you using alternative suppliers of calls where BT cannot, and if your phone goes wrong you have to report it to TT,who then have report it to BT.

I can see no real advantage in folks moving there line rental from Bt at this stage.
