Blocks on calls from domestic nos. (Read 13,019 times)

Phillip21 Newbie Offline Posts: 12 Gender:	Blocks on calls from domestic nos. Aug 22^nd, 2005 at 11:54am I used one of the geographical alternatives to an 0845 number, dialling from my UK landline, and received a recorded message saying that the number was only for international calls. There must be some way call centres can block domestic calls. Has anyone found a way round this?

Reply #3 - Aug 22^nd, 2005 at 7:39pm If this isn't based on CLID, then this could cause quite a problem, even for certain callers from outside the UK. For example, when I'm outside the UK, I often use VOIP to call back to the UK. Some VOIP providers don't support NGNs. This would make the organisation inaccessible from outside the UK.

DaveM. National rail enquiries 0207 278 5240 has this device on it,but its ok if you dial from a mobile.However you can dial the alternative 0191 numberand get through.
If i recall correctly there was a discussion about this approx 3 months ago.

Easyjet's 0870 600 9696 does not let you call it from within the uk and only from overseas Shocked

. They want uk callers to call their 0871 number or even their 0906 number for bookings or internet technical enquiries.

Perhaps EUJet made the mistake of wasting resources on actually responding to customer complaints Wink

Or perhaps they didn't only take on staff who had been fired by MacDonalds the previous week.

Lucky escape there. My sister lives in Kent and nearly booked with them to go to Palma this year. She only didn't because their prices were too high and the days weren't very convenient.

They went bust a week before she was due to travel. Lousyjet's only redeeming feature being that they haven't so far gone bust. Also unlike me she books 6 months ahead.

In that they dont answer back, dont moan, mostly cant speak a word of english, accept to be paid rubbish wages. Oh and McDonalds gives them free clothes (uniform), which doesnt have to be paid for!

Answering back in the most rude and cheeky customer crunching fashion possible does seem to be a key attribute of Lousyjet staff.

It beats me how they keep on growing. I can only assume the general public are both stupid (i.e. they believe untrue marketing that claims Easyjet fares are cheap when they are mainly not) and are masochistic (staff abuse of customers) all at the same time.
