Rob Dwight spokesman for ICSTIS

I am not sure where to post this, so perhaps if the matter has already been raised you will place it there.

I refer to a letter published in today's METRO signed by the above. The letter is refering to a ringtone which cost someone £1000!

The letter goes on to define non-premium rate numbers - he should know better than anybody! - "0207 (for London), freephone services (0800 numbers).

Not sure I understand your post here very well Juby.

There are a lot more non premium numbers out there than just those starting 0207 and 0800!

How about everything starting 01 and 02 plus 0800 and 0808.  Actually strictly speaking 0800 and 0808 are premium rate too because they cost far more than 01 and 02 call deals do to the party receiving the call.

So I reckon the only non premium numbers start 01 and 02

Not all 01, and 02 numbers are standard rate.

Remember most telcos charge extra to call Isle of Man, and Channel Islands, even though their code starts with 01.  Can't actually remember what the codes are though.

Don't know why these 2 UK desinations are treated separately, cos by calling Isles of Scilly, Outer Hebridies, Orkney, and Shetland Islands on geo numbers, as well as Northern Ireland, you still pay the same as calling the rest of the UK on geo numbers.

Wasn't that all back in the days of the BT regional call rate and of course BT Standard call tariffs and Standard Line Rental.  I think you will find that under BT Option 1 that Channel Island numbers are charged at geographic rates and also qualify for BT Option 3 as free calls.

Just checked on 18866 and they carry a call to Jersey on the usual 2p per call basis.
