Tony
You really need to provide more information.  Just posting an 0870 number like you have is like a red rag to a bull for those of us that like to help out.

I am sorry, but I am not prepared to help you unless you can help us.

Please post more information as advised by the 'guide to finding geographical numbers'.
POSTING GUIDELINES

Once you have done this, I will gladly spend my spare and precious time helping you.

Sorry about that - steep learning curve. National poisons information service is the number I am seeking - it is an emergency numbers for doctors charged at 0870 rates. Have checked in database and cannot find it, also on google as suggested. It is a central line connecting to various units throughout the country - there is a central out of hours unit but I do not know the address. Will continue to look and will post if I find it - sorry again, Cheers Tony Walsh

Thanks for posting more information.  I found a website
http://www.hpa.org.uk/chemicals/npis.htm   which says there are 6 npis centres in the UK.

Clicking on the CONTACT US option on the left, it then lists all the centres.  If you go down to the National Poisons Information Service section it then lists the individual 6 centres.  Or alternatively, you can click the links for the centre you want by using the map of the UK which is on that main screen, before you click on CONTACT US.  I clicked on the london one and it lists an 020 number.

I don't know which location you are more interested in but hopefully this will  help you.  I don't know if these individual centre's telephone numbers are available 24 hours a day though, and you may have to use the 0870 number for out of hours?

Please let us know if this is what you were looking for.

Thanks.

If by chance its Dr Tony Walsh from the Tetbury Surgery at Romney House, then its a regular number!  Or it could be the Dr David Anthony Walsh from the Fulford Surgery, and that is still a regular number!

Gawd, I must get  a life and stop searching the internet so much!

How scandalous is that!! I note by the way that the governmnet has now postes a geographic number for families seeking information about people trapped in New Orleans so it looks as tho' our protests are achieving something. You might think that docotrs would get a freephone number for emergencies such as the poisons info unit. I think we need to targe the Minister of Health on this one.
