unlimited calling?
Sep 10th, 2005 at 10:04pm

Im a big chatterbox I must admit.. Ive always been known by my friends to chat on the phone for stupid amounts of hours with my lass..

Did you know that there is no such thing as far as I can see as unlimited calling? What I mean is most companies now have a timeout slot, where they cut you off or start charging you..

I miss cable to cable calls, but apparently NTL dont do that anymore, and they treat cable to cable as any normal local call now, ie over an hour, and one gets charged.. Which really kinda bites.

Im a great fan of 1899 these days. Now they used to offer the old unlimited, I rememeber calls that lasted over night, alas though, their call time is 120 minutes, then they cut you off without charge..

Apart from VoIP, does anyone know of the likes of 1899 that do offer that "unlimited" or should they just rename it as "bloody long calls" Smiley

*curious*

I know for sure that Onetel and Tele2 both have no limit on the duration of the calls, but if you were really going to start chatting at say 6pm one evening and natter on till after 6am the next morning, you would be best off on an all day plan for around £10 per month, which is quite expensive.

Alternatively, use 18866/1899 and just redial when you get cut off.  Come on, don't complain - you're getting around 2 hrs for 2p with them   Grin

Sorry to have to report 1899 and 18866 both now charge 3p per UK 01/02 call.

Sorry about that.  I did actually know that when writing the message but after a 3 hour drive home I was a little off-guard. Embarrassed Thanks for pointing it out Heinz 8)

I didn't know Call1899 had a cut-off, I can't remember reading it on their website!  Do Call18866 have cut-off as well?

Can't say I'm surprised though as they can't make any money on long calls (even more so on calls lasting nearly 3hours).

Have you checked the small print with 18866.co.uk and 18185.co.uk to see if they have a maximum call length?

So far as I knew 18866 didn't used to have one but I expect that is another of their sneaky unannounced changes like increasing the connection fee from 2p to 3p per minute.

The longest call I think I have ever made with 18866 was only about 90 minutes though so I have never fully tested the system.

Now I never EVER complain about 1899. This is mearly a discussion, I take my complaints up with the companies themselves (never had to with 1899 come to mention it)

each THREE pence is well used up, belive me Smiley

So Indeed, im very happy chattp chappy, thank you..

As for checking out the other companies, I guess commond sense will rectify that, and the probable fair use policy will apply to most if not all of em', and will allow a max of 2 hrs per call.. maybe someone on another company can test this out..
