Does anyone out there have an alternative to 0870 738 8880 for Air Berlin at Stansted?
THanks

Leaving aside Ryanair and Easyjet, do they have a Berlin number? That would then be v cheap via 1899 etc.

Well, I have just looked and they do:
International:  +49 (30) 410 21 59 03 as well as www.airberlin.com. Several revenue sharing numbers, but some normal.
Good Luck; please let us know how you get on and post the working number(s) and comments.
Thank you - I hope.

You could also try looking in the database - it's far easier !!   Roll Eyes

Silly me  Embarrassed
I, foolishly, assumed that nigel1 had looked in the database.
Are the red messages not big enough? (Even if I might prefer fora to forums Smiley )

Thank you to all who replied. I did try the "saynoto0870" website last night, inputting both "Air Berlin" and then the 0870 number separately, and both times it said there was no alternative number on record.
Like you, today I tried it again and up it pops. I can only assume it must have been a temporary glitch.
Thanks again

Possibly it was a bit more than a glitch !

I found it was there OK, but as AirBerlin.com, which may be why you couldn't find it the first time. I noticed the error and changed it to correct the problem. The website for it which is www.AirBerlin.com is now there separately, so searching for both will work.

Not your fault but worth remembering next time. Search for the website format as well.    Grin

This message was posted by farci earlier today in another thread:

You list a +49 1805x number for Air Berlin but this is a premium number even from UK with 18185 etc. The normal number seems to be +49 (30) 410 21 59 03

The 0180 prefix in Germany seems to be like our 084/7 numbers and www.0180.info (translated into English using Google here) lists alternative numbers.

Alternatives for Air Berlin's 01805-737800 are (how's your German?!):
Alternative     Remarks (German)     Remarks (Translated to English using Google Language Tools)
The number is the number of the Rückbestätiger, it is however the same coworkers as under 0180. Press and then simply say the 2 in the selection menu that one does not want to backconfirm and/or transfer!
030-410215903 Call-Center-Meldung zunächst in Englisch. Call center message first in English.
030-34341919 Buchung Reservation
030-34345-156 Service Center: Call-Center in englischer Sprache, sich zum Deutschen Callcenter weiterverbinden lassen Service center: Call centers in English language, to the German call center are further-connected leave
The German 030 code is for Berlin. To call the above numbers from outside Germany, drop the first 0 and dial +49 (from UK 0049).

Slightly improved translation:

Quote:

This number is for reconfirmations but the operators are the same as for the 0180 number. Choose option 2 in the menu and simply say that you are not calling to reconfirm but to change the booking, etc.

Quote:
030-410215903  Call-Center-Meldung zunächst in Englisch.

Call Centre answers first in English

Quote:
030-34341919  Buchung

Bookings

Quote:
030-34345-156  Service Center: Call-Center in englischer Sprache, sich zum Deutschen Callcenter weiterverbinden lassen

Service Centre: English callcentre, ask to be transferred to the German callcentre

~ Edit by Dave: Added quote boxes and italics.

The following may be of use to any UK folk using Air Berlin to fly to Spain and want to check their return flight (which Air Berlin ask you to do).
There is a 'local' number, where the operators speak English as well as Spanish. it is 901 116402. This is not quite a free number, but with 901 it is classed as a 'local' call and the Company pays half & the customer pays half. Much cheaper than ringing to Germany!

Quite an interesting formula and unkown in the UK.  Can you explain how it works?

By the way, calling Germany from a UK landline need only cost ½p/min.  See:

Regarding 901 numbers in Spain.
'How' it works, I don't know, but here are some examples of charges

900. this is free - cost of calls to this number 0 euro-cents.

901.  the connection charge for a call is 0.04165 cents and then 0.03366 cents per minute. (these tariffs are paid by BOTH the caller & the business called) so you as the caller are paying half the cost of the call.

902. the connection charge is 0.0833 cents and then 0.067313 cents per minute.

All these numbers are the same cost from where ever in Spain you are calling.

These figures are for 'normal' rate and are less if calls are made 'off peak'.
