Missed Calls From 0870

I keep getting missed calls from an 0870 number (08702 491009). Upto now I haven't been bothered & have just ignored them.

They are now occurring in multiples to my mobile. I finally rang this number (charged at a slightly higher than usual rate).

This announces you have won a prize and says to claim it by dialling 09050 095694 (or similar). This is the one that hits you for £1.50 a minute! I obviously didn't ring it.

Just thought I would flag it here in the hope it may deter even one person being duped.

Come on ICSTIS/OFCOM - Are you not there to protect the citizen-consumer?

Have you reported the scam 09050 prize line to http://www.ictsis.org.uk

Unlike the useless Ofcom they will take action and have it closed down and try to block money from reaching the scam operators.

By the way why would you or anyone else call back an 0870 number showing on the caller display on your mobile? I find it staggering that most people are daft enough to do this as obviously they still at least made some money out of you when you called the 0870.

I would have thought they would at least have needed to use a geographic number to con people into calling them back.
