What a stinking lousy trick!! It's only to be expected - just another scam. As I have said previously, I cannot see any value in having VoIP in the UK because of the ridiculous prices the VoIP providers are charging for 0870 - 0845 calls...which could be 30 to 40% of an average subscriber's calls. So much for
FREEtalkAnyway, the Dixons plan is run by Packet8. Their US 24 hour customer service number is 1-888-898-8733. Notice something there? Yes, if you are a Packet8 customer in the US, you have a
TOLL FREE number for customer service. But, oh no, in Rip-Off Britain, "...we'll slug the suckers for a few more quid...."
So.
dby416, I'd suggest you call that number instead. It will not be toll free to you, of course, but it will cost you a normal US call charge...which, ridiculously, is probably considerably cheaper than calling 0871.
