JC has decided to sell the whole of his Telecom Empire.See

Well, this is an crucial development for us to watch.

This is because John Cauldwell's Homecall offers free landline calls 24x7 as a normal feature of both their dial-up and Broadband packages.

This meant that Homecall customers have, in general, been making outstanding savings from using SAYNOTO0870 for their 0870/0845 numbers.

IMHO, the reason why JC was very keen to sell his Homecall interest along with his Phones 4 U business is as follows:

Homecall was offering line rental, and broadband through Tiscali.  Tiscali have had a really hard time with BT, and furthermore BT hate to relinquish the line rental (CPS was bad enough, but line rental...?!!!).  So Homecall has been having severe problems selling broadband.  JC is therefore hoping to use P4U as the sweetener to hand on his Broadband woes to someone else.

Let's hope and pray that whoever takes over the P4U+Homecall package can somehow preserve the free landline calls ...

Meanwhile, BT must be very happy that a free calls provider is having to call it a day, or so it would seem.

Yes I would echo that, Had one of their scruffy saturday lads try and harras me into signing upto a pay as you go mobile, when I walked off he shouted back at me and accused me of somthing.
