Hi All,

What do you think of the current forum software (v2.1) compared to the old forum software (v1.4)?

Please vote!

I had to vote A Lot Worse for the reasons highlighted in the other thread to do with lost thread subscriptions and PM notification for all forum members now being turned off.  If those issues could be overcome then this version would be better.

Hi, I hate to say it but think it's worse. I find it a lot less obvious what the new posts are with this new colour scheme.

I agree with you cranhill. There appear to be some features which are an improvement, but overall I don't feel it is an improvement.

For example I don't think the general appearance and fonts in the individual posts are as clear or as easy to read.

I know what you mean. Is it possible to increase the line spacing slightly?

Yes that would help I think Dave. It is really a matter of comparative legibility I think and somehow the combination of new font, font size and spacing are not as clearly legible as before?

If you are referring to just the posts then this can be changed from the default Verdana 11 size to Arial 12 size.

If you look at my OP, you'll see I used Arial 12 as I think it's a more clear font and legible size (this post, however, was done in Verdana 11).

Looking on the homepage of the forum, I believe the each section (geo request, geo chat, etc) are clear except for the 'Last Post' column which appear smaller than the old forum (from what I can remember).

Apart from that, I believe everything else is either the same or better.  I like the PM' pop-up box, storage box (making full use of that now), and more importingly email notification of a PM is working fine now whereas the old forum it appeared emails notifications of any PM's were not accurate.  I remember once getting 6 PM's about different subjects from mostly different people but only ever received 1 email about 1 of the PM's.

Overall I do believe it's better though.
