Bulldog
Nov 26th, 2005 at 4:38pm

I'm changing to Bulldog as my ISP provider (mainly because of huge problems with Tesco blocking email list mails as they can't seem to differentiate between a list and Spam), but it means I have to change to Bulldog for my phone line as well.  I'm still with OneTel and 18866, and am assured that this will not be a problem.

Does anyone have any knowledge of Bulldog and their phone service?

Thanks.

They block access, and will terminate your phone line if they find you are able to use alternate providers.

Yikes!  Are they allowed to do that?  Have you personal experience of this?  (Apologies for late reply, was out last night.)

Thanks,  Andrea.

Yes they can legally do this.  All telecom operators except BT (providing you actually pay BT the line rental and not via another provider) and Kingston Communication customers living in Hull are the only two teleco's that have to provide access to ALL other cheaper suppliers, etc.  All other teleco's including OneTel, TalkTalk, Bulldog, Telewest/NTL, etc can, if they want, stop you from accessing other cheaper providers.  They may not actually enforce this rule but they can later (if they don't already).

My cousin who is on Bulldog has said he is now unable to access other carriers - I have to take his word for it - for now.

He has also had no end of problems with his broadband, and also his telephone service, both have at times been off for several days at a time, often when you call his number, you get straight through to the voicemail system when his phone isn't even in use, when you do leave a message he never gets it as it just doesn't get recorded, also even today he still hasn't had a bill from them, the problems are still going on now, even though Bulldog promised OFCOM all was sorted now.

Many thanks Bextech and bbb-uk.  It doesn't look good for the telephone OR broadband.  I'm supposed to be connected on 5th December, but I think I'll give this one a miss.  Will go and cancel now.  Supposed to cancel within seven days of the contract (which is the day you order on the phone, which was actually 18th November) but since nothing has been done, let them sue!!

Thanks again.  Andrea.
