I don't know what you're asking here.

Do you mean you're on Onetel, and paying line rental to them, instead of BT.  In that case they cannot offer to scrap their line rental otherwise everyone will switch to them, instead of paying BT £10.50, which is going up to £11 soon.

Every company which takes line rental away from BT will charge something similair.  You might get to save about £1 a month at most, but not much more unless somebody knows something different.

No Shiggaddi - not quite that !  Shocked

What is meant is that if you're with OneTel (with or without line rental) and your payment is late, presuming you're paying manually & not by Direct Debit, a £5 Late Payment charge is levied, plus a £1.50 Admin charge. Don't pay it on time and BINGO !

Obviously with Direct Debit it would normally be taken directly from your bank account, but ONLY if the account is in credit. Problems with your account and again BINGO !

If a Bank account problem was the cause of Late Payment charges and the overdrawn situation was caused by the Bank, then the Bank is liable for the charges and you should approach them about it. OneTel are within their rights - see the Terms & Conditions that you agreed to when you joined OneTel.

Come back again with some more information & we may be able to help you further & suggest the best course of action to follow.

Wasn't Shiggaddi referring to the poll - on 'phone line rental charges: not to radiocaroline's message on late payment charges (which is a somewhat different subject)?

At first glance, I agree with Shiggaddi regarding the poll, and with DaveM regarding the late payment charges.

The poll was incorrectly worded.  You said "line rental charge"  This implies a charge for line rental.

What you should have said was "late payment charge"

I have to admit (blame the Christmas drink) that I read the poll then the first post and didn't realise it was the same person, so took the poll in the context of line rental charges then thought someone had bought up the subject of late payment charges.

I had something similair with Tele2 recently.  I haven't paid them a penny ever, since being with them for a year, but made lots of free landline calls.

I set up a direct debit but obviously nothing was ever claimed.

A few weeks ago, I received a bill, which also itemised all my landline calls as costing zero, and a charge for non direct payment.  I phoned them up and they then said the problem was as a result of not having a direct debit set up, to which I disputed, and I then set up the direct debit again, and they would look into why it wasn't set up.  I also pointed out that I have a copy of my direct debit agreement in front of me, and they said they might need proof, to which I said I'd be happy to provide, and told them that I'd be sending a bill for my postage they wanted this proof.

I then noticed on my bank online banking that the direct debit was cancelled, so I asked them why, and they said it had been cancelled by Tele2 in accordance with their instructions.

Luckily Tele2 came back and said they would waive the £1 charge (me phoning to ask them, not them getting in touch again!!) with no requirement to provide proof.

Looks like they realised they don't have a leg to stand on, and don't want to dispute such a small amount.

That's exactly what I did - altho' I didn't even realise you could see who set the poll until Shiggaddi pointed it out!
