BT charges to call to pay bills!

Thought it rather cheeky that BT now seem to use an 0870 number to call their own accounts dept. to pay bills (by Debit Card). I eventually managed to get tranferred through using a customer services 0800 number (shown in much smaller print than the 0870 payment number but it was torturous after getting cut off a coupel of times.

150 worked fine - but it wasn't printed on the (business) bill - they only printed the 0870 number. There was an 0800 sales number from which they tried to transfer me to bill payments - but managed to cut me off several times before I tried the 150.
I just thought it a cheek that BT expect people to pay BT premium rates to call themselves (especially when calling to pay a bill!)

Indeed it is a cheek, but no worse than most other operators. Perhaps they've just decided to join the crowd with who they compete. Don't be surprised if this competion thing makes BT as bad as all the rest.
