Panrix Computers

Panrix Computers (Unit 19, Sheepscar Street South, Leeds LS7 1AD) get an "Editor's Choice" award in the current issus of Personal Computer World, for for a well-speced desktop PC priced at £699, incl. VAT.

Their Web site (www.panrix.co.uk) shows only three phone numbers - 0870-027-1981 (Sales); -1982 (Support); and -1984 (Fax).

Anybody got a geographic number to use instead?

A Royal Mail search of the post code gives the following :-

Planetex
Planet House
19 Sheepscar Street South
LEEDS
LS7 1AD

Companies house give the nature of the business as :-

Manufacture other wearing apparel etc.

192.com gives their phone number as 0113 242 0741

This may help but it is some way from computers

A search of Internet Archive shows that Panrix have only started using 0870 numbers in the last few years. Before that, they resided at different addresses in Leeds, but used the same 0113 numbers. These numbers are those that a very nice man has found.

Strangley, both 0870 0271981 (sales) and 1982 (support) go through to the same menu which offers both options. This menu is also on 0113 2444958, which Internet Archive revealed as their 'old' number before the 0870. The menu is also on 0113 246 9499.

Internet Archive also shows the fax as 0113 2444962, although it isn't answering at the moment, but the 0870 fax is. Maybe they've changed that one.

Thanks for all that information. I tried 01132444958 and, as you say, got the full list of options as a menu.

I talked to a very nice man <g> who sold me one of his computers. The only fly in the ointment is that he took a 2% surcharge for a credit card sale.

Does this number go on to the Web page now automatically or do we have to do something else to get it there?

I've added it to the database along with 0113 2469499. Wink

I would appreciate it if you made it clear that your statement about the credit card penalty was nothing to do with me, and that in fact you were merely playing with words.
I have a personal business that does not need any extra hills to climb regarding getting people to use me.
Thank you.

I'm sorry. Do you work for Panrix?

I thought it was completely clear in the message I wrote that the 2% surcharge for credit card payments was imposed by Panrix, and was quite clearly imposed at that company's discretion. It was imposed, of course, to compensate them from the royalty payments demanded by the credit card companies.

Whilst moaning about this extra drain on their operating costs, they should reflect on whether they would do better to ignore credit cards altogether, or accept the charge as a necessary cost associated with a lever which provides them with substantial additional business.

If I have offended you in some way I don't understand, I wholeheartedly apologise.
