freefone Dell technical/customer support????
Mar 7th, 2006 at 2:35pm

I know there's an ordinary landline # for Dell UK head office; and there's also an Irish # for Sales.  But I have a feeling I saw (or was told about) a genuine 0800 freefone # for technical support quite recently.  Anyone know anything?  As usual, it's only the UK which suffers from 0870-itis. A glance at Dell's customer support numbers around the world shows that EVERY SINGLE ONE except UK is a freefone number... And even their Sales number is 0870 -- we pay 8p/min for the privilege of buying or enquiring from Dell...

Yeah, thanks!  Those are what I meant by the ordinary landlines for Dell head office (and Bracknell office).  In my experience, you <can> (sometimes needs a bit of persistence) get thru to tech support by asking on those numbers.  Trouble is they close at 6pm, and are only Mon-Fri -- so one misses out on being able to make evening & weekend tech calls.  I still feel there may be a hidden 0800 number out there ?? Wink

My council used to use an 01 number, but we were told to change to the 0870.

So Dell screw the councils and the rate payer

Ill annoy our ICT guy, he doesnt like me! Never has since I asked him for every E-mail that I had ever sent from my Council Laptop! Also he deals with Data Protection.

I suspect its in one of his ages old Emails when the council tendered out to Dell.

If Google can give eveyone with a gmail.com or googlemail.com address 2Gb of 'forever' storage of all their e-mails, an in-house system should be able to supply the same!
They don't though simply because of storage limitations and cost of increasing storage to accomodate unlimited email storage space.  Most places have limits on the size of their emails and generally anyone going over is threatened with being prevented from receiving and emailing until things are deleted.  You are generally encouraged to create personal folders which are stored locally (on hard drive or something) and not on the email computer storage and move items you want to keep to this personal folder.

The ICT guy probably had to spend ages (and I mean probably ages) going through all archived (possibly even archived stuff stored off-site) for emails sent by mc661!  I can tell you now he would have a really fun day - NOT!   Grin Cheesy

I'll give you a clue as to why you were told to call the 0870 number !

The Sales, Customer Support, Technical Support, etc. are mainly based in Ireland, NO LONGER at Bracknell !

The Bracknell switchboard will transfer you to any "Internal" numbers if you have them, even those in Ireland. Sales & Sales support will sometimes give you them, especially if you have an individuals name as well.

The numbers we already have are 0870 907xxxx, alternatives +
353 1204xxxx

I personally can confirm that 0870 9074000, alternative +
353 12044000
for the Switchboard worked well for me, and when I called Customer services on known extensions direct and also through the Bracknell switchboard, I had NO problems.

If someone could confirm the Dell Technical Support 0870 9080500, alternative +
353 12795700
  and Business Support  0870 3664033    +
353 12795138
, I would appreciate it.

Don't know about OLD ground -- the topic is still very alive and fresh Smiley The main thing is details.  And those two Irish numbers above really work -- which is a great improvement -- with 1899 only 1p/min instead of 8p.
Great.

Yes, great!  The two Irish numbers above both work fine.  The +3531 2795700 number in partic is very useful -- the lowest cost for Tech support when the 01344 numbers are closed (i.e. eves & weekends).
Someone add it to the list!
