Yes Dave, I think that it stemed from a ruling by the Data Protection Commision, in cahoots with Oftel. We are one of the very few countries whereby a person can look up and ring us at our known location, but are protected from us knowing who and where they are.
Whilst it is apparently illegal to provide the information in GB, it would not be illegal for a company in another country to make the information available. It was just this point that I was asking for anyone else's experiences.
